Caroling Hedgehog Christmas Card

I’m back with another Christmas card. I created the card base with my scalloped square Nestabilities and Cuttlebug. Both the title and caroling hedgehog are Penny Black stamps. I colored the hedgehog with Prismacolor Pencils and Mona Lisa Odorless Paint Thinner. To add dimension, I layered both of his hands, the musical note sheet and lantern. For a more realistic look, I applied Glossy Accents to the glass part of the lantern. To complete my card, I added a bow and applied flocking powder to the hedgehog’s Santa hat and the area right below his feet.
Thanks for looking! I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Penny Black Critter Challenge

This week it’s all about critters over at the Penny Black blog. Those of you who have been following my blog for a while know how much I adore the Penny Black hedgehogs and mice. I love using them on my cards and once I heard about this week’s challenge I knew I wanted to play along. So here’s my entry, a Christmas card, featuring one of the hedgehogs from the Penny Black transparent stamp set “holly-jolly” and a sentiment from “the wonder”.
I’m also entering this card in the “Get Ahead for Christmas” challenge at
Penny Black @ Allsorts.
I hope you are not bored by all my Christmas cards because I still have a few more to make ;).
Enjoy and thanks for taking the time to visit!

Skiing Hedgehog Christmas Card

I’m here with another Penny Black Christmas card that I’m submitting to the current Penny Black @ Allsorts Challenge.
The skiing hedgehog is a stamp by Penny Black called “exhilarating” and the title is from the Penny Black clear stamp set “the wonder”. For a finished look, I added a punched out snowflake and applied some flocking powder to the hedgehog’s Santa hat and the area below his skis.
I colored the hedgehog using Prismacolor Pencils and Mona Lisa Odorless Paint Thinner. In the past, I have watercolored a couple of images (please click here and here) but I always seem to go back to my Prismacolor Pencils. What coloring technique do you use the most?
Thanks for taking a look at my card. I always look forward to your comments!

Penny Black CAS Christmas Card

I love CAS cards and therefore decided to make a second one for this week’s Penny Black “Simple Stamping” challenge. Since I need a bunch of Christmas cards, I turned it into a Christmas card and combined the title “Merry Christmas” from the clear stamp set “the wonder” with the hedgehog rubber stamp “Just Wishing You”. I always like to add some texture to my cards and in this case applied some flocking powder to the Santa hat the hedgie is wearing and to the area below his feet.
What is your favorite card making style?
Happy stamping and thanks for stopping by!

Penny Black Simple Stamping Challenge

Today I have another Christmas card for you. I intentionally kept it clean and simple as I’m planning on entering it in the current Penny Black “Simple Stamping” Challenge. I picked both the image and title from the Penny Black clear stamp set “the wonder” and to add a little bit of texture applied some Martha Stewart flocking powder to the area right below the hedgehog. It was pretty hot in San Diego today and I have to admit, I envy the little hedgie for getting to hang out in the snow ;).
Thanks for looking and spending some of your time with me!

Penny Black Christmas in July Challenge

Here’s my entry for the Penny Black “Christmas in July” challenge. Both the dog and title are from the PB transparent stamp set “Holly Day Critters”. To add a little bit more interest to the dog, I applied flocking powder to the Santa hat and with the help of my Nestabilities gave the “pop out” (a.k.a. “out of the box”) technique a try. I love the effect this technique creates and will definitely use it again on future cards. What are some techniques that you have discovered and tried lately?
Back to the card, for more dimension I cuttlebugged the white background with the Swiss Dots embossing folder and used 3D crafting foam for the stamped image as well as the title. I hope you like what you see.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
